View From the Chair

A very Happy New Year to you all. I hope you have enjoyed the meetings we have held in 2016, and we are fortunate to have an interesting itinerary of talks lined up for the meetings over the next twelve months.

I was slightly daunted to take over the Chairman’s seat after Mr Victor Black’s long and successful tenure in the role. Our thanks must go to him and his wife Audrey for all the tremendous work they have done to support Sale Civic Society over the years.

However, as the old saying goes, ‘an ending is just another beginning’, and during my many previous years as Treasurer of Sale Civic Society, I have much enjoyed enjoyed working with Pat and our committee on the great work the Society does all year round. 

2017 is another new beginning for us, as we are moving our open meetings to a new venue at St Joseph's newly-built church hall on Hope Road. There is ample parking, and the hall is convenient for the Metrolink.

I hope you will all continue to support us as we seek to protect and raise awareness of the built heritage and natural environment in our town of Sale.

My best wishes for the year ahead, and I very much look forward to seeing you at our forthcoming meetings.
